Plant Rescue and Propagation

Blunt Greenhood (Pterostylis curta)

Blunt Greenhood (Pterostylis curta)

Today a number of plant species (most of which are orchids) were rescued from a property preparing to go under construction within the Hindmarsh River Estuary area. Many of these species have disappeared along the Hindmarsh River Trail and because the plants collected have a local provenance, M. Worthing Environmental is committed to propagate them and re-introduce these species along the trail so that they can once again play their roles (which have been missing for at least a decade) within the upper Hindmarsh River Estuary ecosystem. Once propagated, it is hoped that these species along with several others will also be used in other revegetation projects across the Fleurieu. A big thankyou to the land owners who were more than happy to permit the collection!
